San Gil and paddling the Mogotico

Setting out for the Mogotico creek in the San Gil region, 7 hours north of Bogota

Set off to walk to put in with Cesar, who runs a local rafting company

The put in - easy grade 2-3 for a couple of km

Good tecnical grade 3 to 4 creeking

The end of quite a continuous grade 3+ grade 4 section where you need to make a couple of last eddies before a must make portage. A compulsory portage with several hundred meters of grade 5-6 then follow.

First national kayak convention, with several hundred kayakers from all over Colombia gathering to run a two day wilderness river called the Chicomocha sleeping one night by the river.
